Program content
Day One
- Assessing your facilitation needs, using facilitation to demonstrate leadership in-person or online
The Five-Step Model to Facilitation:
- 1. Setting a positive climate: establishing ground rules, physical and psychological safety, handling disagreements, modelling accountability
- 2. Listening to understand: tools for reading the room
- 3. Anchoring discussions with a clear and meaningful purpose
- 4. Keeping the conversation moving forward: staying focused and on time, making decisions
- 5. Involving everyone: overcoming barriers to participation, building trust, leveraging expertise
- Applying the five-step model: facilitating a structured meeting
Day Two
- Facilitating larger groups: clarifying objectives, developing presence
- Designing facilitation events: planning, managing time
- Encouraging participation: collaboration, managing louder voices and drawing out quieter ones
- Creating space: using authenticity to build safety, encouraging curiosity and two-way learning
- Using influence and persuasion to up your game
- Building your individualized facilitation plan

You will gain hands-on experience by engaging in targeted skill-building exercises, and receive feedback from the program leader.
