MBAN program costs

Application fee

To apply to the MBAN program, all applicants (Canadian and International) pay the non-refundable $151.25 CAD fee prior to the application being processed. Please note that the electronic application requires payment of an application fee using MasterCard or Visa only. Application fees cannot be deferred and are only valid for the academic year in which you apply.

Once accepted into the MBAN program, fees vary according to Canadian and International students. Here you will find the associated costs for a single year of the MBAN program.

Canadian student fees

Tuition fees

Tuition fees are payable in three equal installments in the first week of September, January and May. Upon receipt of an offer of admission, you will be required to submit a non-refundable and non-transferable $5,000 deposit in Canadian currency, which will be credited towards your first tuition installment.

Per UBC policy, application fees and tuition fees are allowed to be paid by credit card, but tuition installments must be paid by one of the methods listed on the UBC Paying Tuition page . Tuition is subject to UBC Board of Governor’s approval, and the university may adjust fees at any time with limited notice.

Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents: $41,956 CAD*

Expenses explained

Student fees

These are mandatory fees for students of the University of British Columbia. Students will receive a U-PASS, allowing all students unmitigated access to Vancouver’s transit system, and AMS Extended Health Insurance, which will cover the duration of their time in the program.

Student building fee

The UBC Sauder School of Business Building Fee is a student levied fee passed through student referendum to help finance the new building. The cost of this fee is $1,065 CAD and all MBAN students have to pay this fee. The entire fee will be collected with the first tuition installment in September (the fee will NOT be broken up into smaller installments).

iMed (international students)

This provides international students with basic health insurance for the first 3 months of their time in the UBC MBAN program. This also includes a $9 billing charge.

Medical Service Plan

Commonly known as MSP, the Medical Service Plan insures medically required services provided by physicians and supplementary health care practitioners and diagnostic procedures. More information can be found here.

Rent

This figure is calculated based on the average for a one-bedroom apartment off-campus. Rent will vary depending on location and condition of the accommodation.
